New way to drag blacktail and elk out of the Oregon bush

Here's a video that's pretty much an ad for the people behind HawkeyeBilt, a personal tow-behind trailer unit for deer and elk carcasses in Oregon's backcountry. Getting a big ungulate down miles from a road is one of my worst nightmares.

This reminds me of why so many of the old salts on the Cape get oversand permits for their 4x4s. If you land a beast of a striper, dragging it for a mile or more is too much for many, especially if the years are weighing heavy on your bones. I try to at least bring a 5 gallon bucket, though for surf casting that's often too bulky.

From personal experience, getting a deer out using a fireman's carry is not pleasant, especially once dressed. Any bigger and you're in serious trouble. Neat idea.

Looks very effective. Hopefully in the next few years I'll have this 'problem' to solve myself.
